Amazon may not offer cheaper prices starting today
Amazon has begun to abandon a policy of requiring sellers to price their products through the online store cheaper than any other site, meaning that shoppers from the United States may find the same product outside Amazon at a cheaper price.
The US Justice Department has asked Amazon to abandon its pricing policy imposed on sellers by providing cheaper prices to use the price as a competitive tool compared to other stores.
The measure comes in the United States six years after its introduction in the European Union, with the UK's Fair Trade Office and the Federal Alliances Office in Germany forcing Amazon to abandon its anticompetitive pricing policies and fair prices that consumers may get off the podium.
Amazon has been able to outperform rivals such as Alibaba and e-bay thanks to the preferential policy it has introduced in its dealings with vendors.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren has called for extensive and thorough investigations with major US technology companies that violate fair competition, as well as asking authorities to take action to stop abusive practices.
