Qualcomm is demanding Apple pay $ 31 million for a patent infringement

After Qualcomm filed a lawsuit against Apple for violating three of its patents, Apple was fined $ 31 million in damages to Qualcomm for damages caused by its patent infringement.

Apple's patents were related to speeding up network connectivity once the device was switched on, processing images and maintaining battery life, as well as organizing, accelerating and transferring data between the modem and the processor on phones.

Qualcomm has demanded $ 1.41 per phone for iPhone that is sold without a Qualcomm license used on each device.

Apple claimed that the suit was in fact a retaliatory act by Qualcomm because Apple used Intel as another chip supplier instead of Qualcomm in 2016, after Qualcomm was Apple's main supplier since 2011.

"The technologies developed by Qualcomm and others are what enabled Apple to enter the market and become successful so quickly," said Don Rosenberg, General Counsel of Qualcomm. "We are grateful that courts around the world reject Apple's strategy of refusing Paying for technologies ".

"Qualcomm's ongoing campaign to claim its patent infringement is nothing more than an attempt to distract attention from the larger issues it faces in the US Federal Circuit and around the world," Apple said. But Apple has not commented on whether to appeal the ruling or not.
